About the Artist
Katherine Nesci
A longtime Tucson resident, Katherine Nesci has been melting glass since 1994. Early morning often finds Katherine on her back porch watching javelina make their daily trek down a well-worn path, or maybe even catching a glimpse of an elusive bobcat that has taken up residence in her backyard. From her home-studio at the base of the Tanque Verde Mountains, she can watch birds nesting and bees visiting the many cactus flowers.

Spring and summer provide artistic inspiration with a burst of color from wildflowers and the dense green of the mesquite forest outside of her window. Fall and winter bring the stark beauty of the nearby mountains into focus.

Having studied at the Scuola Bubacco in Murano, Italy, and at the Corning School of Glass in Corning, New York, Katherine creates her pieces with a torch in the traditional Venetian Method with a Southwest touch.
